As I am sitting on the couch hungover as can be and shoveling what is probably my 1,000th calorie of brown rice pasta into my mouth I realize that I should start a blog chronicling my journey through my first triathlon.
So here it is! The 1st post! I'm not sure why I signed up for the triathlon to be completely honest, however, I'm always impressed when I hear about someone completing a really difficult race and overcoming personal hurdles along the way. So I made it my New Years Resolution to complete a triathlon and registered on Dec. 31st. It is a 1 mile swim, 34 mile bike ride, and 10 mile run. I told myself I would start training in March and as we're a little over half way through the month, the training is pretty null and void. I have done one substantial bike ride out to Carpinteria and back (24 miles), one 6.25 mile run, and exactly no swims.
With the help of this blog and the encouragement from my faithful readers (if you're reading this, thanks for indulging me) I should be more proactive and stick to a real training schedule. As I'm between jobs currently, tomorrow I will use my free time to craft a daily work out schedule. I'll post it here too if anyone feels like following along!
That is all for now. I will continue hydrating and hopefully be in bed no later than 9PM tonight.
